Loleta Recreation campground is a great destination for outdoor activities in Allegheny National Forest. It is well-maintained and offers a variety of amenities, including vault toilets, campfire rings with cooking grates, electric sites, and a central fresh water point. There are also a couple of group campsites that can hold up to 50 people. The upper campground entrance has a spot to park for the day and trails to hike or a spot to swim in the river. The campground is also home to a swimming area built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Satellite radio reception is good and AT&T cell coverage can be found at the upper primitive campground. Unfortunately, there is no internet or smartphone connection at the campsites. However, a short drive toward town and you can get it. Fees are a bit high, but the bathrooms are clean and the sky is clear. Big rigs need to use caution entering this area as Pennsylvania DOT has randomly placed 10 Ton Load Limits on almost all roads (even gravel roads).
