Tionesta Recreation Area Campground is a great spot for a quiet and peaceful camping experience. Though there are three dirt speed bumps with no signs, the campground is a great place to relax and unwind. You may find difficulties finding the exact location with your RV GPS, but Google Maps and Waze will provide you with directions when you enter Tionesta Recreation Area in PA. If you come in from Tionesta, the campground area is to your left after you clear the town, and if you come from the west on US-6, take PA-66 and then up PA-36. Once near, follow the signs to Tionesta Recreation Area. When the COE entrance building is not manned, you can still check the campground map to pick the best spot for you and start setting up. The sites vary in length, but the lengths from the reservation site are mostly accurate. Most, if not all, of the sites are full hookups, and some sites closer to the front of the campground, especially along the river, tend to be closer to one another. Try sites in the 90s-100s area if you are looking for more spacious sites, but avoid site 113 if your rig is over 35 feet as it might be difficult to back in. The campground is dog friendly, and we enjoyed walking our dogs and seeing the groundhogs in the rocks. Some restaurants and museums may be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Wednesdays, so plan your outings accordingly. Overall, Tionesta Recreation Area Campground makes for a great getaway destination.
