From The Campground
Shenango River Lake is situated within the suburban Shenango Valley and provides an attractive setting for visitors to spend their day picnicking, camping, or enjoying nature's beauty. History buffs will enjoy exploring the remnants of the Erie Extension Canal, sections of which are located on project property. The well-preserved remains of Lock Number 10 are found in Sharpsville, approximately one-half mile downstream of the Shenango Dam. Other historic features include the Kidd's Mill Covered Bridge. The lake offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, and hunting. There are 22 recreation areas at Shenango River Lake, including Bayview ORV Area, Clark Recreation Area, and Trout Island Access Area. The North Star Marina is also located on the lake. Visitors can take a virtual tour of the lake on the Shenango River Lake website. Camping options include electric and non-electric campsites, primitive campsites, and group camping. There are also picnic areas, group picnic areas, and swimming beaches available. The lake offers bike trails, equestrian trails, hiking trails, and interpretive trails. Volunteers are welcome to participate in the Corps Watch Property Protection Program. Age and disability discount passes are available. Please note that many states are discouraging or banning movement of firewood to control the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), so visitors are advised not to bring wood from home to their campsite and not to take unused wood they procure while camping home with them.
