The campground is the only state park managed by an outside corporation that oversees the day-to-day responsibilities such as campsites, dumpsters, and bathrooms. The lack of staff at the management and Rhode Island state park department levels is noticeable, resulting in the gradual deterioration of this once-wonderful campground. Further, flooding is a common issue in some sites, especially during even minor rainfall, so campers must be mindful of which site they reserve. Nonetheless, campers have banded together to create a group called Bound4burlingame, offering a glimpse into the camping community. Here, campers share insights, provide information, and recommend campsites. Though the sites in the 500 section are nice and spacious, the bathrooms and dumpsters are in unacceptable conditions, which some campers find concerning. The odor from the overflowing dumpster and the unclean bathroom covered in litter is a common complaint. Additionally, only one person handles checking people at the desk and the gate, taking a long time to check papers and license plates, leading to long queues. Finally, campers recommend bringing plenty of bug spray as mosquitoes are relentless.
