Kings Mountain State Park is a rustic campground located in a beautiful mountain setting. The campground offers a variety of amenities, including water, 30 amp electric, picnic tables, fire pits, a Trading Post, and a playground. The Trading Post has snacks, ice, camping supplies, firewood, and souvenirs. The campground also has a lake with canoe and kayak rentals, as well as a living farm and a 1.5 mile trail with story boards. The sites are mostly dirt with wood chips scattered around the edges, and may require levelers to be level. The campground is popular with school and scout groups, and can be noisy at night at times. Unfortunately, the bathrooms can be dirty and the roads are in bad shape with low-hanging branches that can scrape RVs. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the campground is a great place to visit for the Change of Leaves.
