The park has helpful and friendly staff who are always willing to assist you. You can take advantage of the parks $10 shuttle to Charleston and other attractions like Folly Beach and McLeod Plantation, which offers an affordable and comfortable way to explore the city. The parks facilities are clean and well-maintained, with laundry facilities, bike and walking paths, a lake, and a water park. The bathrooms are clean too. The parks campsites are spacious and level and come with good hookups, making it an excellent destination for RV camping enthusiasts. The sites are dirt pads, which may be uneven in some places, but the park offers excellent privacy, and there are trees to provide shade and shelter. The parks features include a dog park on the lake, a splash zone, and a holiday lighting display located around the park. The lighting display is very lovely and perfect for viewing with your family. Overall, despite some small drawbacks like varying campsite quality and price, James Island County Park is an excellent place to camp, thanks in part to its convenient proximity to Charleston and its amenities. You can make use of the parks hiking and walking trails, the dog park, and fishing docks, as well as its proximity to the beaches and the city.

The campground features 20/30/50 amp service on all sites, full hookups, pull-thru sites, primitive campsites, and accessible sites. Amenities include an activity center, modern bathhouses, dump station, free wifi, full-service campground store, laundry facility, paved roads, picnic tables, propane, ice, and firewood sales. The park amenities include miles of paved trails for walking, biking, and skating, seasonal Splash Zone Waterpark, the Climbing Wall, 16 acres of freshwater lakes with fishing, open meadows, pedal boat, kayak, stand up paddleboard, and bicycle rentals, modern playground area, tidal creek fishing and crabbing dock, and seasonal spray play fountain.
