What others are saying
Nestled in Fair Play, SC, Lake Hartwell State Park offers a beautiful campground with a heavily wooded setting providing privacy and relaxation. For just $20 a night, campers can enjoy a level pad, water, and 20 amp electricity at their sites, making it an affordable option for a peaceful escape. The accessibility off the freeway is a plus for people that want to travel through the area. Although the roads are a bit rough and tight, it is manageable to drive on and get to your site. The campground is beautiful with lots of trees, but some campers have noticed that it seems unkept. The bathhouses and laundry rooms could use some attention, and the roads need repainting of site markings. However, the bathrooms are decent, and the showers get hot, making it a comfortable stay. Lake Hartwell is a great spot for boating, kayaking, or swimming, and it provides a wonderful view of the fall foliage at dawn. Despite common criticisms, the staff is friendly enough, and after-hours check-in is a breeze. Overall, it is a pleasant and peaceful camping experience for those who want to get away from it all.
