Rocky Point Recreation Area in Belle Fourche, SD is a beautiful and peaceful campground with spacious and mostly level RV sites. The lake is almost full, providing refreshing swimming and boating opportunities. Although there is only one small restroom, it has running water, which is a nice change from some other campgrounds. The hosts were not intrusive but nearby if needed. Avoid going on the weekends if possible, as it gets very busy. We enjoyed watching the sunset across the lake and would definitely recommend Rocky Point Recreation Area for a tranquil camping experience.

From The Campground

Rocky Point Recreation Area is located on the 8,000-acre Belle Fourche Reservoir. The reservoir was created in 1911, when Orman Dam was constructed to store water for agricultural use. At the time of its completion, Orman Dam was the largest earthen dam in the world. In 1989, Orman Dam was designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
