The property features a gas and propane station, a convenience store, and an ATV rental business on-site for guests convenience. The campground is clean and well-maintained, with each site featuring a concrete pad for the picnic table, a site-specific trash can that is emptied daily, and a fire ring. While the Wi-Fi and phone coverage leave something to be desired, the location is top-notch, with easy access to Deadwood and Mount Rushmore. The sites may be a bit tight but they offer full hookups and excellent privacy. Though the check-in staff could be more friendly and knowledgeable, Steel Wheel is a great spot for RV enthusiasts. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend this campground.

Steel Wheel Campground & Trading Post is a 12-acre facility located on US Hwy 385 just 6 miles south of the historical town of Deadwood, SD. The campground offers Park Model Cabins, Full Hookup RV camping spots, RV with Electric Only, and Camping Cabins. The facility also features a Deli/Food Court, Volleyball, Horse Shoes, Tetherball, and BBQ Grill with Picnic Tables. The campground is mowed and trimmed on a weekly basis and all the fire pits are clean. The staff ensures that both the store and shower house are kept spotless to ensure guests have the cleanest environment while staying with them.
