Ditch Creek Campground in Hill City, SD is a great place to camp. The sites are level and well maintained with fire rings, and there are numerous ATV trails that are easy to access. The campground is surrounded by nature, and the lake, forests, and fishing are all nearby. The pit toilet is cleaned daily during the summer, and there are two trash dumpsters. There is no cell reception at the campground, but there is a hand crank well for water. The only downside is that the water has lots of forest debris, so some campers prefer to fill their camper with water at another nearby campground. Despite there not being water hookups for RVs, each spot still provides ample space so campers arent on top of one another. Overall, Ditch Creek Campground is a good option for a secluded camping experience in a beautiful natural setting.

From The Campground

Ditch Creek Campground is a quiet campground adjacent to Ditch Creek, located approximately 5 miles south of Deerfield Reservoir. The campground has 13 single sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Potable water is available during the peak season only, and there are vault restrooms. The campground has a 50-foot spur length for RV camping. In the off-season, several sites remain open for free use. The stay limit at all campgrounds is 14 days. Reservations are not available for Ditch Creek Campground. The camping sites are being reconstructed in June 2022 to accommodate modern-sized RVs, provide accessibility, reduce resource damage, improve fire safety, and reduce maintenance costs. A portion of the camping fees collected were used to fund this project.
