GenieSummary

Located off of SD 44, 34 miles from I-90, Snake Creek Recreation Area is a spacious campground on the banks of the Missouri River. The electric-only sites are huge, shaded, and mostly back-in, with a few pull-through sites. While there are occasional water pumps for potable water, there are no water fill or dump stations. The campground offers 30/50 amp service and good Verizon and AT&T service, but no OTA TV. The peaceful setting is perfect for nature lovers to sit back and relax, with access to a sandy beach shoreline and the river. The nearest fuel and grocery store are found in the small town of Platte. Despite some sites being more shaded than others, every site offers plenty of privacy. Its worth noting that reservations for prime sites should be made well in advance. The campground is usually at 50% occupancy by early evening, so aim to arrive early to snag your preferred site. Additionally, free showers are available on site, a nice bonus for campers whove been on the road for a while!
