Thunder Mountain Campground offers long-term camping and has a tavern onsite with food, drinks and live music. Unfortunately, the campground has gone downhill in recent years, with bathrooms that are often dirty and a manager who is more interested in making money than making campers happy. The campground is also very crowded, with sites that are very small and not always located where they were reserved. Additionally, the hill in the campground can be difficult to navigate and often leads to damage to RVs. Electric sites are also expensive, charging $450.00 for race week. While the campground can serve its purpose, it is not a clean, well-lit, or calm place, making it an undesirable option for many campers.

Thunder Mountain Campground is a campground, villas, and event parking located next to Bristol Motor Speedway. It offers brand new fully furnished air-conditioned villas, 14 stall bath houses, 4 dump stations, and 2 water stations. The campground has 120 acres to hike, bike, and explore, and 1 mile of Beaver Creek to fish, swim, and wade. It is only 4/10 mile to Bristol Motor Speedway, 1 mile to Walmart and restaurants, and 7 miles to 85 mile Holston Lake shoreline. The campground is open year-round upon request and may be rented entirely for special events. It also offers winterizing and camper repair services.
