Though the trails available on the property are overgrown and need periodic maintenance, the surrounding area, historical sites, mountain biking trails, and nice nature spots make up for it. The staff from the USFS seems helpful but need to step up their maintenance efforts so that the playground for kids and trash facilities can be improved. A few year-long residents seem to be selling or hoarding items in their campground sites, which doesn’t give an ideal camping experience. Overall, despite some shortcomings, Piney Campground offers an excellent experience for first-time campers who are looking for a peaceful and scenic getaway.
