Elkmont Campground in Gatlinburg, TN has multiple sections and a nature trail. Daisy Town, restored buildings utilized by the rich in its heyday, is also a short walk away. Additional hiking areas are available, and bear procedures are in place. While some campsites are more level than others, there are organized boon docking options available with trash service and cold water bathrooms. Generators are allowed between 8am and 8 pm. Its important to note that there is no water fill-up or dump station for RVs in the campground, but one is available near Sugarland Visitor Center. The signage can be small, and the driveway is steep and narrow. However, despite the lack of certain amenities, the park is beautiful and quiet, with nice trails and a location just 15 minutes from Gatlinburg. The tree canopy provides shade, with a melodious river flowing directly behind some of the campsites and a rock beach for hours of exploring. Its truly like heaven on earth. Some sites, like those near Jakes Creek, have a large shady area with audible and visible creek for a peaceful atmosphere. Its important to keep in mind that there is no cell service or OTA TV available which may add to the seclusion for some campers.
