Hales Marina is a campground located in a beautiful mountain setting with amazing views. The sites are level, and the front office staff is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the parking lot and building have not been well maintained and the septic pipes on some sites are broken and jagged. There are security dogs in a fenced-in building that bark 24 hours a day, and some of the long-term campers allow their dogs to run off-leash and leave their waste. Weekenders can be quite rowdy, and the road leading to the campground is single-lane with ditches on the edge. There is no table, no bathroom, and the fire ring is on a steep slope, making it difficult to make a patio area. There is also no internet service, and cell service is spotty. Additionally, there is a cable cord that stretches across multiple sites, creating a tripping hazard.

From The Campground

Hales Bar Marina and Resort is a lakefront resort located on Lake Nickajack and the Tennessee River. The resort offers a full-service marina with over 220 covered slips, a full hookup RV campground with 80 paved sites, and popular floating and land cabins. The cabins are equipped with a combination of king, queen, and full size beds, as well as bunk beds, and include full bathrooms and kitchens with all necessary appliances and utensils. The resort also features a pool, tours of the old powerhouse turned distillery, and a ship store that sells soft drinks, beer, ice, snacks, bait, fishing and boating accessories, and souvenirs and gifts.
