Cardens Bluff Campground is situated on a peninsula jutting out into Lake Watauga. It has wooded sites with great lake views and plenty of privacy. The campground has direct access to the lake, with coves and private beaches to explore by boat or kayak. The Appalachian Trail runs close by, and there are many other parks and national lands nearby. The campground has picnic tables and fire pits, and most sites are drive up with a short walk. The bathhouse has bugs but is functional. The camp hosts are helpful and chatty. The campground can get crowded in the summer months, but it is a great place to camp and fish. There is a marina, boat launch, and day use area close by. The gate to enter closes from 10pm-7am and parking is limited if you have multiple cars.
