What others are saying about this campground
Big Ridge State Park is a great campground for families looking for a peaceful getaway close to Knoxville, TN. It offers large sites with plenty of space, allowing for privacy between campsites. The park has a nice playground, even has an adaptive play structure for handicapped children, and a beautiful rec center overlooking the lake. There is a nearby swimming area, but it was occupied by geese families and there was quite a lot of goose poop. There are also water sports and hiking trails to enjoy, as well as nice group areas for get togethers. The campground is family-oriented, with lots of noise, close-in sites, canopies, and children. The sites are clean and well maintained, however there is no privacy between the picnic tables and the fire pits. Theres a laundry at Shelter 4 with wash being $1 or $2 (depending on load size) and dry .50. There was a mom and pops type restaurant nearby, but all other stores were at least 15 minutes away. Trail maintenance was poor and litter all over the place. The young woman in the park office was very nice and processed a refund of our second night.
