Little River Campground & RV Resort in Townsend, TN offers a great getaway spot away from the crowds of Gatlinburg and is closer to Cades Cove. The grounds are clean, well-maintained, and offer a choice between camping sites along the river or along tree lines with plenty of shade. While we did not use the bath houses, full hook-up options are available for ease and convenience. The little gift shop and pool during the summer months provided nice amenities. Additionally, the playground with a basketball court added to the fun for kids. The attached farm is also a highlight, allowing guests to pet the donkeys and take pictures. We enjoyed great service and assistance from the staff, who helped us back our 30-foot camper into our site. Overall, a lovely campground that we would visit again.
From The Campground
Little River Campground is located on The Peaceful Side of the Smokys, the side that is known for relaxation, hiking, horseback riding, fishing and photography. The campground has very mature trees and is quite peaceful. There are both 50 and 30 amp services to premium sites. Some of these sites back up to the Little River for your viewing enjoyment. Of course fishing abounds on the Little River, trout being the number one catch. Little River Campground, formerly Tuckaleechee Campground, is constantly improving. The Fillmore family purchased the campground in early 2016 and updated the 50 amp electric sites, added direct tv and wifi, updated the existing bath house and bathrooms and added the property across the way with a swimming pool and glamping cabins.
