Mountaineer Campground is a small, family-owned campground located on the Little River in Townsend, Tennessee, just two miles from the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The grounds are well-maintained, with level concrete sites, wooden decks, and full hookups. The campground also offers a swimming pool, laundry facilities, and a keypad-accessed bathhouse with two showers, mist spray heads, and three toilets with shower curtain doors. The campground is also close to a variety of trails and the Cades Cove area of the National Park, and is within walking distance of an ice cream shop. The owners and camp hosts are friendly and accommodating, and the campground is known for its quiet atmosphere after 10 pm. However, the sites are quite close together, making it difficult to set up tents or screen houses, and the Wi-Fi and cable connection can be spotty. Verizon cell signal is also weak.
