The Rio Grande Village Campground is located in the far eastern part of Big Bend National Park and is a great spot for all your Big Bend adventures. This large campground offers multiple types of spots, with access for even some of the largest RVs and tow behinds. Each campsite is equipped with tables, fire pits and bear boxes, with communal restrooms and potable water nearby. The main attraction of this campground is its close proximity to the Rio Grande River and the border between the US and Mexico, where you can take a dip at night and enjoy the spectacular stars. There is also a nature path that leads to a cliff overlooking the Rio Grande, although it may not be suitable for small children or people with unsure footing. The campground offers shade from the thorny bushes, as well as a well-built sun shelter, and is a great spot for RVs with full hookup. There is no wifi or internet, but the Village Store where you check in has groceries, souvenirs, gas station and a laundromat. Wildlife is abundant, with vultures singing in the trees and javelinas making daily visits. You can also access Boquillas del Carmen, Mexico, with good food and cold margaritas. Cell phone service is only available at the main visitor center, which is a 20-minute drive away. If youre looking for a central location with hiking trails and access to the Rio Grande, Rio Grande Village Campground is the perfect spot for your Big Bend adventure.
