What others are saying about this campground
Kickapoo Cavern State Park is a great escape for those looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The park is relatively small, with only five full hook-up campsites, but it offers a wide variety of activities for visitors. The park is home to Stuart Cave, where about one million Mexican Free-tail Bats emerge from the cave at sunset to search for food. There is a viewing deck to watch the bat emergence, and guided cave tours can be booked in advance. The park also offers hiking and biking trails, a lookout point, a bird blind, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the dark night sky. The campsites are spacious, with good brush coverage for privacy, and most sites have a nice distance from neighbor sites. There is a picnic table in good condition, a pedestal BBQ grill, a fire pit with grilling grate, a double hook lantern pole, and an aluminum picnic table at each site. The restroom and shower facility is clean, although the womens restroom lacked a consistent supply of TP and wall dispenser soap. Wildlife sightings are limited to squirrels and armadillos. There is no cell service in the campground, but there is a WiFi signal from the Ranger Station. The roads in the park are in good condition, and the park ranger patrols the campground numerous times throughout the day and evening. Be aware that there are no dumpsters or places to deposit trash, so all trash must be packed out.
