Big Oaks is a beautiful campground situated in the Nueces River Canyon. It offers a variety of accommodations, including tent sites, RV spots, and cabins for rent. The campground has been redone by new owners, who have added barbecues, gravel drives, and a great splash pad for the kids. The dam is 1/2 a mile up the road, and the campground is pet friendly, with a couple of small dog pens. Linens must be rented for the cabins, and the grass around the cabins is not mowed and full of sand burrs. The swimming pool is nice, and the signal strength is marginal. Prices in peak season are $40 for full RV hookups. Big Oaks is a great place for families, with plenty of activities for kids of all ages, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
