There are plenty of nearby attractions, such as breweries, wineries, and towns like Gruene, New Braunfels, and Wimberly. The park entrance gatekeepers are friendly and helpful, and the hosts keep visitors apprised of park closures. Wildlife is abundant, with a resident herd of small whitetail deer that roam the campground in the morning and evening. The campground does not take reservations, so it can be difficult to get in, but it is well worth the effort.
