Lake Colorado City State Park is a basic and older park that may be off the beaten path, but its well worth a visit. The park offers electric and water hookup sites; however, the lake is small and fishing-only. The level back-in sites have fire pits and picnic tables. Although there isnt much shade, there are some low cedar trees and a beautiful view of the lake. The quiet and empty park provides an excellent opportunity to hike and enjoy a stunning sunset. Ultimately, this park is a great stopover location if youre traveling to California or the East Coast.

The park is located south of I-20 between Midland and Abilene, and features a 1,618-acre impoundment of Morgan Creek. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as fishing, swimming, paddling, hiking, picnicking, and wildlife watching. The park offers 11 cabins and campsites for overnight stays.
