Padre Island National Seashore is a beachfront land preserve offering a variety of camping and recreation options. This campground boasts around 50 campsites, many featuring a picnic table, BBQ and shade structure. With direct beach access to the north end of the national seashore, you can enjoy glorious views of the ocean, lovely sunsets over the dunes, and some of the most amazing shells and sea creatures regularly washing up on the beach. The individual sites do not offer amenities such as running water or electricity, but there is a nice bathroom and shower facility located mid-camp. Vehicles are not allowed on the beach, so you dont have the constant parade of cars and trucks. The campsites are located amongst the grassy dunes about 200 yards from the coastal waters, and there is a central dump and fresh water available before you enter the parking area. Campground host is helpful and the location is ideal for beach combing away from some of the crowds. The only downside is that lighting is sparse at night, making it a bit difficult to navigate the grounds. This is a great spot for walks, bike rides, and surf fishing, but be aware that the wind can bring in a lot of sand and salt from the ocean. Cell phone reception is spotty, but its worth it for the stunning sunrises and sunsets, and the abundance of wildlife.
