This campground is situated between Texas Highway 361 and the Gulf shoreline of Mustang Island. It is a great spot for those looking for a peaceful and quiet place to build a campfire and watch the waves roll in. There are a few beach primitive spots, and the rest of the sites are a long strip with a bath house towards the entrance. Each site has a paved area, picnic table, wooden pergola, and a grill for charcoal. There are also electric and water hookups, as well as a dump station. The beach is just a short walk away, and there are many nearby attractions such as restaurants, art galleries, and the Sea Turtle Rescue site. The park is also conveniently located close to Port Aransas and Corpus Christi. However, be prepared for high winds, lots of sand, and the hot sun. There is no wifi or sewage, and the grass is full of sharp burrs. The staff is friendly and the park is clean, but it is not suitable for a long stay.

From The Campground

Mustang Island State Park is an unspoiled barrier island park with over five miles of coastline along the Gulf of Mexico. Visitors can enjoy swimming, surfing, fishing, kayaking, bird watching, and geocaching. The park offers 48 water and electric campsites and 50 drive-up primitive sites, as well as portable toilets along two miles of the beach. Full restrooms and showers with hot water are located near the water-electric campground. Ranger programs are available on birding, stargazing, beachcombing, nature walks, and more. The park store sells some supplies and gift items. Two beach wheelchairs are available for loan, free of charge.
