Purtis Creek State Park is a 1,582-acre park located an hour southeast of Dallas, Texas. The park features a 355-acre lake that is a popular destination for bass fishing, as well as swimming, boating, paddling, camping, hiking, and biking. The park offers 59 campsites with water and electricity, five walk-in tent sites, and 13 primitive hike-in sites. Visitors can also rent kayaks and canoes. The park store sells supplies, outdoor equipment, bait, gifts, and ice. Ranger programs, guided hikes, paddling basics classes, and nature programs are available. Nearby attractions include the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center and the city of Athens.
