What others are saying about this campground
Davis Mountains State Park is a stunning destination for campers looking for a peaceful getaway. With its zero light pollution zone, this park is perfect for stargazing and birdwatching. The park is also home to a wide variety of wildlife, and the staff is friendly and helpful with lots of outdoor and naturalist programs. There are plenty of activities to do in the area such as trips to the McDonald Observatory, Balmorrhea State Park, Fort Davis, Marfa, Alpine, and Big Bend. There is a wide selection of mostly level asphalt full-service pull-through RV sites with convenient, reliable utilities, including cable TV. The McDonald Observatory offers weekly Star Parties with a nice outdoor presentation and telescope viewing. The park is usually under a burn ban, so campfires are not allowed. Cell phone coverage is spotty in the lower areas of the park, but a short drive up to the scenic overlook yields a strong signal. There is also the Indian Lodge just up the hill with a restaurant and the Black Bear Restaurant on State Park grounds. The nearby Fort Davis has a fair variety of restaurants, one grocery store, and two gas stations. Local roads are great for cycling, and pets are welcome. Davis Mountains State Park is the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty of the West Texas mountains.
