Lake Meredith National Recreation Area offers several primitive campgrounds for off-road vehicle enthusiasts, horseback riders, hikers, and mountain bikers. The Blue Creek Off-Road Area and Rosita Flats Off-Road Area are accessible from FM 1913 and Highway 87/287, respectively. Both areas offer primitive campgrounds with vault-evaporator toilets, picnic tables, and LEAVE NO TRACE policy. Plum Creek, located on the southwest side of the lake off FM 1913, is a popular area for horseback riding, hiking, and bicycling. It offers picnic tables, shade shelters, grills, horse corrals, water troughs, and 8 camping sites. Chimney Hollow and Bugbee are two other primitive campgrounds with vault-evaporator toilets, picnic tables, and LEAVE NO TRACE policy. Chimney Hollow is located near Blue West, while Bugbee is off Farm-to-Market 3395 and features shoreline fishing. The park does not provide drinking water or flush toilets in any of its primitive campgrounds.
