Lake Meredith National Recreation Area offers several primitive campgrounds for off-road vehicle enthusiasts, horseback riders, hikers, and mountain bikers. The Blue Creek Off-Road Area and Rosita Flats Off-Road Area are accessible from FM 1913 and Highway 87/287, respectively. Both areas offer primitive campgrounds with vault-evaporator toilets and no drinking water. The Plum Creek area is popular for horseback riding, hiking, and bicycling, and features picnic tables, shade shelters, and grills, as well as horse corrals and water troughs. Chimney Hollow and Bugbee are remote and primitive campgrounds with vault-evaporator toilets and no drinking water. All campgrounds require visitors to leave no trace.
