What others are saying about this campground
Huntsville State Park is a beautiful and heavily forested area that features plenty of fall color change during the season. The area is crossed with creeks and boasts a beautiful lake that provides habitat for diverse wildlife. This state park has several trails to choose from at different lengths and levels of difficulty, which are well maintained and well marked. The park dates back to the federal CCC program, and while it is well maintained and has a helpful and friendly staff, there are several concerns. The area is designed for smaller trucks and campers, so the roads are narrow with quick turns, and many of the sites are close together, short, and with leveling issues and pads eroded by soil. Larger rigs may be accommodated, but there can be a tight fit to get on the site. The full hookup loop has very uneven sites for the most part, so be prepared to take the time to level and bring plenty of blocks. Some of the sewer connections may also have uphill slopes. In the Raven Hill section, which is the only one with full hookups, sites are tight, and all have some slope, some worse than others. Despite the challenges with the sites, the views are worth it! The park has a welcoming natural setting, and it is an excellent park for birdwatching during spring or fall migration.
