There are plenty of trails for hiking, and the Trailway is a crushed gravel path that leads to the town of Jacksboro and beyond. The park also has a stocked fishing lake and loaner equipment, a full-sized sand volleyball court, playground, and two different camping areas. The campsites are well spaced and have plenty of room, with fire pits and picnic tables provided. There are also restrooms and showers in the fort area, and a grocery store just down the road. Fort Richardson State Park, Historic Site & Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway is a beautiful park located in Jacksboro, TX. The park offers twelve miles of trails for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. Visitors can also enjoy fishing at two lakes, Quarry Lake and Lake Jacksboro, where they can catch bass, catfish, and trout. Swimming is available at Lake Jacksboro, which has a sand beach, covered tables, and restrooms. The park also offers geocaching, ranger programs, and tours of historic buildings. Kids can become Junior Rangers and borrow Explorer Packs loaded with tools for exploring the park. The park has water-only campsites and offers discounts for group adults. Entrance fees are $4 for adults and free for children 12 years and under. The park is open daily and highly recommends reservations for both camping and day use.
