The Sweetgum loop is a great place to stay with plenty of shade, spacious sites, and a friendly camp host. The restrooms are a bit outdated but the showers are clean and the water pressure is good. The sites have a metal picnic table, fire ring, large tent pad and a lantern pole. There is no WiFi, but cell service is decent for both AT&T and Verizon. The park is quiet and peaceful, with no street lights and a great night sky for star gazing. There is a boat ramp, but no swim beach, playground, or day use area, so traffic is minimal. The campground is a great spot for bird watching and deer, and there are plenty of friendly squirrels. The only downside is that there is no privacy between sites and the camp host site looks a bit trashy.
