What others are saying about this campground

This campground is located on the outskirts of a fair size town, but still feels isolated. It is close to Big Bend Ranch State Park and a 25 minute drive to Closed Canyon. It is a very large park without many people, so you can pick your own site and enjoy the night sky. There is a small building with a bathroom and laundry facilities, and the host operates on a honor system. The host is always out working on the campground, and greeted us after we were set up with excellent restaurant suggestions. We had full hookups that worked fine, the site was level, and the location was great. There is a daily happy hour at 4pm that takes place under a shade structure, and on March 17 we had a St. Patricks Day pot-luck brunch. The locals are wonderful and helpful and theres a sense of community even if you stay for just a night. The views are excellent, its amazingly quiet, and theres plenty of room to stretch out. There are a few restaurants and stores close by as well as a border crossing to a stocked Mexican town. The 18 hole golf course was closed this winter due to flooding in September, but you can still walk around it for some great views. This is not a luxury campground, but it has a charm unlike anywhere else and is a great place to just sit, enjoy the sky, read, and meditate.
