Clear Lake Campground is a small, pleasant campground operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers on the shore of Lake Lavon, north of Dallas. It offers full hookup sites for $15/night for those with a Senior Pass, and plenty of trees for shade. The roads and site pads are in need of repair, and the grass is uncut, but the area is generally quiet and peaceful. The lakefront sites offer beautiful views, but unfortunately they dont have shade. Ants are a problem, so its recommended to treat the site with Home Defense to keep them away. There is a boat ramp and plenty of fishing spots, and the gate attendants are friendly and helpful. The bath and shower facilities are in poor condition, and there is a lot of webs in the area, so a broom is recommended. Overall, Clear Lake Campground is a great spot for those looking for a quiet, off-the-beaten-path experience with beautiful lake views.
