Hidden Oaks is a peaceful campground located near Goose Island State Park. It is full of beautiful live oak trees, providing plenty of shade and a scenic view. The campground is well lit and has a good size folding table, iron and board, and rod for hanging clothes. The campground is also close to the famous live oak Big Tree and some great Whooping Crane watching. The campground is owned by an absentee group of investors, but is staffed by a very pleasant and helpful resident manager. The rate is monthly at $275 and electric is.19c KWH in line with the area. There is no cable TV service provided and the Wi-Fi connectivity varies from good to frustratingly slow. The negatives of the campground are the sand burs and the lack of facilities such as bathrooms and showers. However, the campground is working on eliminating the sand burs. The campground is a great place to stay, with friendly people, quiet roads for walking and biking, and plenty of trees.
