What others are saying about this campground
Park staff have been exceptionally friendly and helpful. Dog Canyon is a remote campground located in the Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas. It is a great spot for camping and hiking, with the highest point in Texas located nearby. Access to the campground is remote, with one 60-mile paved option and one 30-mile dirt road alternative, so it is important to fill up with gas in Carlsbad before arriving as there are no services within many miles of the campground. The campground is well-maintained and has heated restrooms, but there is no hot water. There are also no cell phones, making it a great spot for peace and quiet. There are several trails nearby, including the Guadalupe Peak trail, which offers breathtaking views. It is also a great spot for stargazing, with the stars being incredibly bright and vivid. It can get quite cold at night, so make sure to bring warm clothes and a propane stove.
