What others are saying about this campground
Stephen F Austin State Park is a great park just outside of the Houston Metro area. It offers a variety of camping options, from primitive to full hookup sites, and is well-maintained with clean restrooms. There are plenty of trails to explore, with some closed due to storm damage, and a convenient place to launch kayaks and canoes just outside of the park. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, birds, rabbits, frogs, turtles, bobcats, and owls. There are also plenty of oak trees with Spanish moss hanging from them. The park offers a fire pit, water spout, picnic area, and plenty of space for tents and supplies. There is a daily fee of $4 per person per day, and a Texas State Parks Pass costs $70. There is a brand new toilet/shower facility with 2 family restrooms, and 4 job johnnies and campers from the tent loop utilizing the new toilet/shower facility. The nearby San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site tells the story of early settlers to Texas and is worth a visit. There is free wifi at the campground, but it is not always reliable. The park is great for families, with short trails perfect for kids and plenty of activities on Saturdays.
