Buescher State Park is a beautiful and peaceful campground located 40 miles outside of Austin and a short drive from Bastrop, Texas. It offers tent, group, and RV sites, along with cabins and screened shelters alongside the lake. The lake is 25 acres and offers great shoreline and kayak or canoe fishing, as well as fishing for large-mouthed bass, catfish and trout. The park is surrounded by tall loblolly pines, mixed hardwood and eastern cedar, and fields of wildflowers, making it a great place to relax and enjoy nature. The park also has a fun out and back trail with lots of shade, perfect for families, and the playground is large and wide open. The park road is narrow with blind curves and low overhead clearance, so fifth wheelers and motorhomes beware. There is no collecting firewood, charcoal fires only within ring. Smithville is only 10 minutes away for restaurants, gas, and groceries.
