What others are saying about this campground
Cons: No shade, no fire rings, no grills, no picnic tables, no hookups. This private-owned campground is located near Lake Somerville and is perfect for groups looking for a peaceful and family-friendly getaway. The park is split into 3 or 4 areas, with plenty of space between sites. Check in is at 4pm and check out is at 3pm, and the gates are closed and locked from midnight to 6am on weekends and 10pm on weekdays. The site #79 is a back-in with a grass site and no trees to avoid, and costs $35 per night ($105 total). It has a 20/30/50 amp hookup, a picnic table with a concrete pad, and is on the end of the line so no one is on the front side of the camper. The site is split-level, with the table down a slight hill from the parking area, and there is no shade. Across from the cabins on stilts, the lake view is a little blocked. There is a dump station that is a little hard to get to for big rigs, and a park store that has fishing bait and supplies. The cabins are under re-construction, and there is a Places Munzee here and a boat ramp. Wildlife includes cormorants, barn swallows, scissor-tails, mockingbirds, kites, killdeer, great egrets, and redwing blackbirds. There is also a covered fishing pier, sandy beaches, and shallow water next to shore. Unfortunately, there are no fire rings, grills, or picnic tables, and no hookups.
