What others are saying about this campground
Martin Creek Lake State Park is a great destination for family camping trips. It features large campsites on the lake shore with plenty of trees for shade, and a spot to put in kayaks. The screened shelters are kept immaculate by the park employees, and are spacious enough to fit four people without air mattresses or camp pads. There is a small lock on the inside, a water spigot, and a double lantern hook. There are also wooden and metal picnic tables in good condition. The lake is perfect for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boating. There is also a playground and hiking trails, some of which are suitable for biking. The bathrooms and showers are clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The price for camping is very reasonable, and the park is well shaded. Be aware that the park is across from a Texas Utilities generating plant, which can be loud. There is also a train that runs in front of it occasionally.

From The Campground

Martin Creek Lake State Park is a peaceful place in the East Texas woods, just 20 miles southeast of Longview. Visitors can fish for bass or catfish, walk the trails, or sit quietly and watch a sunset over the lake. The park offers year-round fishing, camping, paddling, lake swimming, hiking and biking, water-skiing, picnicking, geocaching, and nature photography. There are nearly four miles of hike and bike trails, and visitors can choose from campsites with water and electricity or primitive campsites situated on an island. The park also has screened shelters and cabins. Ranger programs are available on the park's history and nature. Nearby attractions include Starr Family Home State Historic Site, Texas State Railroad, and the historic cities of Marshall, Longview, Kilgore, Carthage, and Henderson.
