Loafers Bend West Campground is a great place to camp on Lake Whitney. It is an Army COE campground, so it accepts Golden Age Passports, and is very clean and well maintained. It is busy on the weekends, but traffic is not an issue. There is plenty of room between sites, and most have covered picnic tables. The sites have 50/30/20 Amp service, water spigot, and a large gravel pad with a covered picnic table. The loop road is rough and impassible for most 5th wheels, but there are lots of large trees and many spots right on the lake. There are herds of deer milling around the campers, and some sites have a great view of the lake. It is only $14.00 a night, making it a great bargain.
