GenieSummary

Red Canyon Campground is a great alternative to the crowded national parks in Utah. Located just 20 minutes away from Bryce Canyon National Park, Red Canyon offers a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the larger parks. The campground offers 38 mixed-use sites for tents and campers, with flush toilets, showers (quarters required), potable water, and trash dumpsters. Each site has a cement patio with a picnic table, fire pit, and grill. The campground is located on Highway 12, so there is road noise during the day, but it quiets down at night. Hiking trails behind the campground offer spectacular views and peace and quiet, and the Red Canyon Bike Trail is a great challenge for those looking for a thrill. The campground is close to the Red Canyon Visitor Center and the Red Canyon Lodge, which offers a small general store, cabins, and a restaurant. The campground is closed during the winter, but during the summer months, temperatures are usually in the mid-70s. Red Canyon is the perfect spot for a peaceful getaway, with plenty of amenities and stunning views.

From The Campground

Red Canyon Campground is located in Dixie National Forest and offers 37 campsites with picnic tables, fire pits/grills, tent pads, drinking water, flush and vault toilets, showers, dump station, and garbage disposal. The campground is situated amid ponderosa pine in Red Canyon along Scenic Byway Utah State Highway 12. It is surrounded by Pink Claron Limestone formations similar to those found in Bryce Canyon National Park. The area around the campground has an extensive trail system for hiking, mountain biking and roadbike riding. The Buckhorn Trailhead is located inside the campground, which is a short trail that can be connected to the Golden Wall Trail to make a scenic 5 mile round trip hike. There is also easy access to the Red Canyon Bicycle Trail and the Red Canyon Visitor Center.
