Grand Staircase Resort is a great spot to explore the Escalante area of Utah. It is located close to Capitol Reef and Bryce National Parks, as well as Calf Creek trails. The campground is well maintained and provides views of the surrounding mountains. The sites are 80 pull through and are almost level. There are fire pits, picnic tables, and nice tables with adequate room between most of the spots. The bathrooms and laundry facilities are large, spacious, and clean, but have ridiculously small sinks and no place other than one plastic chair to put your clothes and toiletries. The restrooms/showers are accessed off the main Laundry room with coded locks. The owners are very hospitable and politely warned us to disconnect water hoses before an expected 24F overnight freeze. Traffic is minimal during the night so it wasnt that annoying though trucks did pass by fairly early in the morning. The Interagency visitors center is directly across the road from the campground and you can walk to it every morning for plans for that days adventure. If you pay for your stay but find it to be uncomfortable and need to leave, you will not be refunded even a partial amount.
