From The Campground

Woods Island State Park is a remote area campground located on a two-mile shoreline in Lake Champlain. The island is home to a rich variety of plant life, including many rare or threatened species. The island was once farmed and traces of drainage ditches and old farm machinery can still be seen. The state seeks to preserve the primitive character of the island and asks visitors to observe its guidelines for island use. Visitors must make their own arrangements to get to the island and there are no docks. There are two water taxi options available. The campground has five campsites situated around the shoreline, each with a fire ring and composting toilet. Camping is by reservation only and fires are permitted in designated fire rings only. Sanitary facilities are minimal and there is no potable water supply. The island is connected by a trail system, giving campers great privacy but requiring them to walk and carry their own gear from wherever they come ashore. Maximum eight (8) persons per site; fourteen (14) night maximum stay. Parking is available at Kill Kare State Park. Nearby attractions include Hackett's Orchard, Cold Hollow Sculpture Park, and St Albans' 14th Star Brewery.
