This campground is a true State Park gem, located 3 miles in from the interstate and nestled up against a hillside beside a reservoir. The road leading the the state park is dirt with a paved section about a mile from the entrance. The sites are nicely spaced out, level and many having great privacy. The location of the campground is good for exploring the fall foliage in the area and is heavily forested, making most sites pretty dark. There is fresh water and a dump station, but no electricity to the sites. There are new restrooms and showers being built, and programs for all age groups that were well received. Trails in the park lead to foundations of old farm houses and old cemeteries that were abandoned when the dam was built in the 1920s. There is a small beach area that would be great in the summer and popular for mountain biking but steep terrain. The staff is very helpful & maintain the park to the highest standards. This campground is definately not big rig friendly, but there are enough sites if you dont mind a little challenge to get in.
