What others are saying about this campground
Kiptopeke State Park is a beautiful campground located on the tip of the Virginia Eastern Shore, offering stunning views of the Chesapeake Bay. The park offers full hookup sites, tent sites, cabins, and yurts, as well as access to kayaks, paddle boards, and fishing. The beach is a great place to relax, swim, and collect seashells, while the hiking and biking trails provide plenty of outdoor opportunities. The park also has a boat launch and fishing pier, and is conveniently located near the Bay Bridge Tunnel for easy access to Virginia Beach and Norfolk. The RV sites are not ideal, as they are close together and lack shade, but the campground hosts are friendly and the sites are in good working order. The pet fee is a bit steep, and there is an additional charge for fishing, but the beach is clean and the park is well maintained. This is a great spot to bring your family for a camping, fishing, and beach vacation.

From The Campground
Kiptopeke State Park offers a variety of overnight accommodations including cabins, lodges, yurts, bunkhouses, and campsites. The park has two two-bedroom cabins and two three-bedroom cabins, as well as five six-bedroom lodges. The four yurts are tucked neatly into wooded areas for privacy and extra shade. The camping lodge (bunkhouse) has seven bunk beds and is available only from the last Friday in March to the first Monday in December. The full-service campground offers sites with water and electric (some sites have sewer hookups), hot showers, and restrooms. The park also has more than 5 miles of hiking and bicycle trails, two unguarded beaches on the Chesapeake Bay, and fishing and boating opportunities. The park offers educational programs for students K-12 and has picnic shelters available for rent. The park's history dates back to the 1940s when it was purchased by the Virginia Ferry Corporation for the northern terminus of the Norfolk to Eastern Shore Ferry. Ferry service ended in 1964 when the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel was opened. The park opened on Memorial Day weekend in 1992 and has since expanded to 562 acres. Kiptopeke State Park is managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
