Located in Chesterfield, VA, Pocahontas State Park is a fantastic campground for those looking to enjoy the great outdoors. There are tons of hiking, biking and running trails available, as well as a beautiful lake perfect for fishing. The campground occupies a nice site with asphalt roads and campsites featuring water and electricity, as well as firepits and a dumping station. Restrooms are spacious, clean and heated. Additionally, there are large splash pools available for kids of all ages to cool off in during the summer. Although the campground is somewhat isolated, there are plenty of stores and restaurants available in nearby Chesterfield. While the drive into the park is winding with little to no shoulder, the proximity to the Petersburg National Battlefield is a huge perk. Visitors can take advantage of the 24-hour laundry and weekend camp store during their stay.
