What others are saying about this campground
Toms Cove Park in Chincoteague, VA is a fantastic place for bay activities. However, before you arrive, make sure to apply insect repellent with deet since there are a lot of mosquitos and biting flies in the area. The campground staff does their best to control it with aerial spraying, but it is suggested to spray the ground for mosquitos and flies before you park on your site. Aside from the matter with insects, the staff is friendly, and the restroom and shower house are dated, yet clean. Some sites appear to have litter, and a few sites are mislabeled because of fixing the fence, which can cause confusion. Also, theres a reason why the management asks campers to dispose of their trash in the office because the crows and seagulls will attack the bag quickly. It would be best to take binoculars to see wild horses across the bay. The campground is pretty quiet, but weekenders come in before departure. Finally, the reservation process, which requires mailing a deposit, is simple enough. Just keep in mind that if you prefer a water-side site, its best to plan ahead since they seem to go fast.
