What others are saying about this campground
Morris Hill campground is a great spot for outdoor lovers in Alleghany County, Virginia. It is located in the George Washington National Forest, close to Moomaw Lake, river, and dam. It offers a variety of activities for campers such as fishing, boating, swimming, volleyball, and even watching Netflix in the comfort of your own tent! Each site has a tent pad, fire pit, one picnic table, and lamp post, and there is access to firewood on site for a small fee. The campground is pet friendly and has a 100 yard walk through pathway off the site to the lake. There is also a volleyball net, 3 spacious showers with hot water, and a dump station with a basketball hoop. The nearby towns have Big Box stores about 30-45 minutes away, and the roads in and out of the campground are hilly but manageable. The only issue was that some of the steps came out right into a sloped area, making it hard to set them up and having to be careful coming in and out. Cell service (AT&T) was spotty but usually had about 2 bars and was able to watch Netflix on a rainy day. The only downside was that the bathrooms were overrun by spiders, but overall the campground was clean and well maintained. Highly recommended for camping and outdoor activities!
